Launch of New Fixed-Mount International VHF Transceiver “UM725GJ” (Revised)

Uniden Holdings Corporation (Head Office: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; Representative: Kengo Nate) is pleased to announce the release of the UM725GJ, a 25W output, fixed-mount international VHF transceiver compatible with the common ship communication system, starting from June 2023.

The UM725GJ is a compact yet powerful device featuring a large, high-visibility LCD display, and comes equipped with DSC Class D functionality that automatically transmits distress signal location information when the DISTRESS button is pressed. It also includes a built-in GPS, IPX8-equivalent waterproofing, and is a fixed-mount model that has already received high praise in the North American market.

In light of recent maritime accidents, there is growing emphasis on the importance of self-reliant safety measures. By equipping vessels with international VHF radios—capable of sending distress signals to nearby ships or the Japan Coast Guard even when mobile phones are out of range—sailors can enjoy a higher level of safety and peace of mind.

With over 50 years of proven performance in the North American maritime radio market, Uniden is committed to promoting the use of reliable and cost-effective international VHF transceivers in Japan to enhance maritime safety.

Note: Operation of this equipment requires a Second-Class Maritime Special Radio Operator License or higher, as well as a radio station license for a specified ship station.
